The restoration process
Restoring classic boats and keeping such important parts of our rivers history afloat is an exciting prospect for any new boat owner but it can be daunting and that’s what we’re here to help with.
The first stage of any restoration is to make a full assessment of the condition of the hull and superstructure. From there we will then provide a clear and concise quote with a full and detailed breakdown of costings along with an expected timescale for works.
Customers can arrive either by water or road to the boatyard and that’s where the fun begins. Once the boat has been safely landed on one of our specially designed yard trailers we can begin work.
Any work to the hull or super structure is always where we will begin first. Working with the highest quality timber from some of the best suppliers in the country. Often specially sourced storm felled English timber to ensure we stay true to the boats history by using sustainably sourced English timber.
Steam-bending ribs and bending planks in, creating beautiful curves in empty spaces. Paying homage to the original builders by giving the boat's beautiful lines a new lease of life.
With larger projects clients often want interior redesigns to make sure the boat suits their individual requirements, whether that’s a champagne picnic on the Thames or a Family holiday on the broads with a 7ft tall uncle, we can increase head heights, redesign decks and work with each client to ensure everything they want and need becomes a reality.
All of our interior work is done using traditional boat building and joinery methods to create a sleek and timeless finish and although we endeavour to work to all budgets we pride ourselves in making sure our standards are never lower than excellent.
